Tullgatan 40 is a care home for individuals with cognitive impairments and dementia, conditions that can affect how they perceive their surroundings, such as colors and patterns. Quality was already an important consideration during the planning phase, with the goal of selecting a sustainable interior design solution featuring durable, high-quality furniture that stands the test of time.
To meet these needs, Kinnarps created an interior design based on natural materials and tactile surfaces, providing a homely feel. Clear contrasts in the interior design aid in orientation and navigation, while also creating a sense of security for the residents. Removable and washable covers make the furniture easier to maintain and improve hygiene. To enhance security and the sense of community, special attention was given to designing environments for shared activities. The communal areas are furnished to resemble homely environments, with wooden furniture, plants, and warm textiles. The seating is both comfortable and user-friendly, supporting functionality and encouraging social interaction.
